Chapter 1 Overview
This week we read through chapter 1 in CM2770, and let me tell you this chapter had a TON of material. Lets start by going through the learning objectives for the chapter. Learning objective one was to define "convergence". Convergence is the coming together of computing, telecommunications, and media in a digital environment. So many examples come to mind, but first lets classify the types of convergence. There are three types of convergence: technological, economic and cultural. Technological convergence is when print, audio and video media comes together to create something like the Kindle. Economic convergence is the converging of internet or telecommunications companies with traditional media companies, like content and distributer companies coming together.
